Bridgerton Season 4: Everything We Know So Far

Whistledown, darling—you may want to take notes. The Ton is buzzing, and we’ve got the inside scoop on everything coming up in Bridgerton Season 4. From masked balls to mysterious maidens and one dashing second son, this may be the most romantic season yet. Here’s your exclusive peek into what’s in store.

Bridgerton’s Back—and It’s Benedict’s Turn to Shine

As a full-time blogger and devoted marathon-watcher in my Soft Girl CEO era (with a cup of tea in one hand and a baby monitor in the other), I’ve followed the Bridgerton saga from the start. From Daphne’s debut to Polin’s steamy carriage scene (a moment please!), this regency romp has been part of my post-bedtime unwind. And now, it’s finally Benedict’s time to take centre stage. To say im excited is an understatement!

Netflix released a behind-the-scenes look on Valentine’s Day (of course they did), and fans everywhere swooned. Between masked balls, secret kisses, and the promise of Cinderella-level scandal, Season 4 looks like the fairytale we’ve all been waiting for. I know i’m a bit late to the party -and I’m sorry but better late than never right?

Who Is Season 4 About?

Season 4 will focus on Benedict Bridgerton, played by the dreamy Luke Thompson. As the second eldest Bridgerton, Benedict has danced around love (and a few other things, ahem) over the last few seasons. But this time, he’s ready to swap his sketchbook for a soulmate.

Enter: Sophie Baek, a stunning masked stranger with a very secret past.

Their story kicks off at a masquerade ball hosted by none other than Lady Violet Bridgerton. Sparks fly, masks hide identities, and Benedict falls head over heels for the mysterious “Lady in Silver.” But when she vanishes before the night is through, our dear artist embarks on a quest worthy of Prince Charming himself.

Meet Sophie Baek—Our New Leading Lady

Played by Yerin Ha (you may recognise her from Halo and Dune: Prophecy), Sophie Baek isn’t just a pretty face with killer cheekbones. Her backstory adds a refreshing twist on the Cinderella tale. Sophie is the illegitimate daughter of an earl, who, after her father’s death, is forced into servitude by her cruel stepmother, Lady Araminta Gao (played by Katie Leung, aka Cho Chang from Harry Potter).

She lives and works as a maid in her family home—until one magical night changes everything.

In a classic Bridgerton twist, one of Sophie’s stepsisters (the glamorous and scheming Rosamund Li, played by Michelle Mao) also sets her sights on Benedict. Cue drama, deception, and one very complicated love triangle. I love a good love triangle movie; make sure to check out my list!

Colin and Penelope Return—Now With a Baby!

Polin fans, rejoice! Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan are returning as Colin and Penelope, and there’s a new addition to the Bridgerton brood—a baby! Yes, we’ve officially entered the parenthood chapter for this fan-favourite couple.

Of course, Penelope’s alter ego Lady Whistledown will still be stirring the pot, especially with the scandalous arrival of Sophie and her not-so-noble roots. Expect plenty of witty narration from the ever-iconic Julie Andrews.

Which Book Is Season 4 Based On?

Season 4 follows Julia Quinn’s third novel in the series, An Offer from a Gentleman. (Yes, we’re going slightly out of order—season 3 skipped ahead to book four for Polin.)

Fans of the books will note a key difference: Sophie’s surname has changed from Beckett to Baek, possibly to reflect her Korean heritage and bring added cultural richness to the series. Personally, I love that Shondaland continues to weave diversity and modern twists into the Regency world.

Who’s Returning and Who’s New?

Alongside Benedict, Sophie, Polin, and Violet, you’ll see several familiar faces:

  • Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) and Brimsley (Hugh Sachs)
  • Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) – always regal and razor-sharp
  • Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) – fresh off her own love story
  • Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) – the independent icon we adore
  • Possibly Kate and Anthony Bridgerton (Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey)—though we’re waiting on confirmation

Sadly, Regé-Jean Page has not returned as Simon (yes, I’m still grieving), and Phoebe Dynevor’s involvement is unconfirmed.

As for Sophie’s wicked step-family? Expect drama and jaw-dropping gowns from:

  • Lady Araminta Gao (Katie Leung)
  • Rosamund Li (Michelle Mao)
  • Posy Li (Isabella Wei, recently seen in Black Doves)

Where Is Season 4 Filmed?

Bridgerton continues to deliver dreamy set design and historical backdrops, and Season 4 is no exception. We’ll see:

  • Ranger’s House in Blackheath (aka the iconic Bridgerton family home)
  • Brand-new filming locations built specifically for the show at Shepperton Studios, just outside London

These new sets include a jaw-dropping replica of a Georgian Mayfair Street, complete with sweeping townhouses, courtyards, and a few shadowy corners perfect for stolen kisses (or spicy drama).

I can already picture Benedict racing through the streets in search of his masked muse.

When Is Bridgerton Season 4 Coming Out?

Filming resumed in September 2024 and is expected to wrap up by April 2025, around my birthday. So yes, dear reader, prepare yourself—it’s looking like 2026 before we get to indulge in Season 4 in all its romantic, pastel-drenched glory. I’ll be hosting a complete setup, and I have it all planned out in my head. Should I share it on a Soft Girl Bridgerton Pinterest Board?

Until Then… Bridgerton Is Still Indulgeable

While we patiently wait for our next invitation to the Ton, all three current seasons of Bridgerton are available on Netflix. Rewatch your favourite moments, from Daphne’s debut to Polin’s slow-burn love story—and maybe even romanticise your own life while you’re at it.

Mask optional. Pearl clutching? Highly encouraged.

Before You Go

As a blogger who’s as obsessed with Bridgerton as I am with Pinterest boards and cosy evenings with my kids (once they’re asleep, of course), I must say—Season 4 looks magical. A fairytale romance with a modern twist, a love story of longing and liberation, and a leading lady we can’t wait to root for? Yes, please.
